Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons: We are learning that subtraction can be recorded using numerals and symbols. We can write and read a number sentence. This is an activity based on the picture book, Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons. Pete the Cat is wearing his favourite shirt with the 4 groovy buttons, but the buttons pop off one by one. Each “loss” is recorded as a number story (a subtraction equation) until Pete is left with no more buttons. Watch the story and help your child to write the number sentences as Pete the Cat loses his buttons.
